Welcome to Sulcata Cutlery.
We're a family-owned knife retailer based in Orange, California, with roots that go back to 2021. While Sulcata Cutlery may be a new name, we're not new to retail.
Our story began with KC Tactical, our brick-and-mortar firearms and knives store located in Orange, California. Today, we continue to operate our physical showroom at 1920 N Tustin St, Orange, CA, where customers can visit us in person, see our knives up close, and experience them in hand before making a purchase.
We believe that's something special in an increasingly online world.
From KC Tactical to Sulcata Cutlery
In 2021, we started KC Tactical with a simple goal: to create a retail business where customers could find quality products while receiving genuine, personal service.
Operating a physical storefront has given us the opportunity to meet customers face-to-face, learn about their needs, and see firsthand what people value when choosing the products they carry and collect.
Over the years, knives became an increasingly important part of what we enjoyed most about the business.
We became fascinated by the craftsmanship, materials, engineering, design, and individuality behind premium knives. Whether it's the blade steel, grind, action, ergonomics, materials, or simply the way a knife feels in your hand, there's much more to a great knife than its basic function.
That passion eventually inspired us to create a business dedicated specifically to knives.
And that's how Sulcata Cutlery came to be.
A New Name, Built on Real Retail Experience
Sulcata Cutlery may be a new brand, but it was built on years of real retail experience.
Behind Sulcata is the team that has operated KC Tactical since 2021, serving customers from our physical storefront in Orange, California.
We're not simply an online store shipping products from a warehouse.
We have a showroom where you can come in, talk to a real person from our team, see our knives, handle them, compare different models, and get a feel for what works for you before you buy.
For us, that's an important part of the knife-buying experience.
Pictures and specifications can tell you a lot about a knife, but they can't always tell you how it feels in your hand, how the action feels, how the ergonomics fit you, or whether a particular size and design is right for you.
That's something you can only really experience in person.
Why "Sulcata"?
The name comes from something very close to our family: our sulcata tortoise, Shelly.
Shelly has been part of our story from the beginning, and the sulcata tortoise has always been a memorable part of our family business.
We wanted our new brand to have a name that was personal to us rather than choosing another generic knife name.
So, Sulcata Cutlery was born.
Why Focus on Knives?
Our transition to Sulcata isn't simply about starting another online knife store.
It's about focusing on what we genuinely enjoy.
The knife community is incredibly passionate. People care about the details—from blade steel and geometry to action, materials, ergonomics, fit and finish, and the designers and makers behind each knife.
We understand that because we're enthusiasts ourselves.
Our goal is to build Sulcata Cutlery into a place where both new customers and experienced collectors can discover premium EDC knives from brands worth knowing.
We're particularly interested in knives that combine function, craftsmanship, design, and personality.
What We Believe
We believe buying a knife should be simple and trustworthy.
You should know that the knife you're purchasing is authentic, accurately represented, properly packaged, and shipped with care.
And when you have questions, you should be able to talk to a real person.
That's something we've learned from years of operating a physical retail business.
At Sulcata Cutlery, we're bringing that same personal approach to both our showroom and online store.
